docker/ folder and verified that it is available on the container by using docker-machine ssh and checking to see if it's there and I do see them in the root directory but I don't see /var/run/mysqld, /var/lib/mysql, or /var/logs/mysql. proj_name/aws/docker/mysql/docker-entrypoint-initdb.d:/docker-entrypoint-initdb.d proj_name/aws/docker/mysql/conf.d:/etc/mysql/conf.d Here is the relevant (I think) portion of the docker compose file: version: "3.2" It just crashes instantly and then I docker-compose down, try some troubleshooting, then try again. I have dug around on google for two days now and no matter what I try I cannot get this database to come up.

Downloaded a prod DB snapshot from the company's AWS.Installed MySQL Server 8.0 on my computer from this link using the web community installer: (side note - does it matter that I installed 8.0 while the project uses 5.7?).Created a new folder for the project and cloned the Github repo into it, created a venv and activated it.I'm new to Docker and MySQL so I may have done something wrong, but these are the steps I took and the problem(s) I have: The project uses Docker, Python 2.7 and Django 1.11.
